His Kingdom Comes In Power: The Battle

Picture compliments of Brendi Wells

His Kingdom Comes In Power is a series written by Chaplain Jessie Czebotar.

The first book describes the Unseen Battle we are in and addresses questions many ponder about our unseen enemy. Is Satan real? How does he operate? How can we defeat him.

“The kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power.” 1 Corinthians 4:20

One night I had a dream that there were lions prowling everywhere seeking whom they might devour. I dreamed that I had put all the children from our Church into a room that was a safe spot and told them not to leave that room. Then I found out that the building that was supposed to be a safe haven for them was infested with lions. In my dream I got a group of adults together to come with me to rescue the children and to destroy the lions, however, there was one problem-no one knew how to fire a weapon.
I believe this dream is symbolic of the present state of the Church. When Jesus sent out the disciples in twos He commanded… “As you go, preach saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. Freely you received, freely give.” (Matthew 10: 7-8)

There are unseen enemies in this world that are seeking to extinguish every light that is of Christ. Let us not forget that the apostles who lived and walked with the Lord experienced this battle between the Lord’s kingdom and the kingdoms of this world. For three days they thought the light of Christ had been snuffed out. They had walked with the Lord and heard Him speak of His promised kingdom. But then they watched as He was crucified. They stood near as the One they called Lord took His last breath. They saw Him placed on a slab sealed inside a stone cold tomb. I can only imagine that all their dreams of the Messiah they were waiting for and the hopeful expectations of the kingdom they had strove to help the Lord establish were buried in that grave with their Christ. But God’s Word tells us that the kingdom of God was not sealed away buried with Him in His death. God’s promise to build an eternal kingdom that would never end was not lost. It was just the beginning of glories to be displayed to them and to us.

Peter later writes the early Church about the risen Lord, “For we did not follow cleverly invented stories when we told you of the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eye witnesses of His majesty.” (2 Peter 1:16) He saw the risen Lord. He and over 500 disciples walked, ate, talked, touched, and fellowshipped with the Lord for 40 days after His resurrection. My fellow believers, like the disciples, our life experiences also are the living accounts that He is alive. Many of the stories shared in this book are real life encounters of the Lord’s power that have been displayed in my days. We have beheld Him so that our lives may be a living testimony that the kingdom of God is at hand. The Lord Jesus Christ is coming in power and we are called to walk in His Spirit through the display of signs, wonders, and miracles. But how are we to do this?

This book is not to be taken light heartedly. Brethren, we are all standing upon the great battlefield between light and darkness. Many of us would be tempted to skip to the end of the book and just get to the part that tells us how to become mighty warriors for Christ, walking in the light of His glory. But I believe God has a good reason for having each of us go through the training process. Our training begins here-looking at our enemy. One of my favorite authors Corrie Ten Boom wrote, “Before the battle, the General always sends his spies into the enemy camp. They take photographs of secret defenses; they learn the enemies battle positions, their ammunition supply points, even the personal weaknesses of the opposing leaders. But unless the general passes the information on to his own troops, they cannot win the battle.” (Taken from Jesus is Victor p. 155)

The Lord is calling each of you to enter boot camp. He wants to teach you who the enemy is and how he is at work in your life. The Lord wants you to be aware of the strategies the Devil uses against you to take the light of Christ from you and to keep you from testifying that the Lord Jesus Christ is alive and active in your life. As the body of Christ we must discipline ourselves to show up for training exercises so that we may overcome the enemy and gain ground in this battle. Brethren, devote yourselves to prayer and being in the Word of the Lord every day and hold fast to His promise that we shall march out into this battle against darkness as Sons of the Living God with the Lord God Almighty by our side….
